Nigeria hit by second mass school abduction in days

More than 300 children and teachers have been taken from a Catholic boarding school in the remote Papiri community. The attack came just four days after the abduction of 25 schoolchildren in a nearby region.

Nigerians are on edge after a series of recent abductions, including a church attack in Kwara State where two people were killed and 38 taken.

For years, heavily armed criminal gangs have operated from forest camps across several states, carrying out kidnappings for ransom. Though not necessarily ideologically driven, their growing cooperation with jihadi groups has raised concerns among security analysts.
