Nigerian celebrity chef Hilda Bassey has set a record for the largest serving of Nigerian style jollof rice ever. Thousands of people gathered in Lagos to watch the food influencer cook the popular dish weighing in at a massive 8,780 kilos.

Nigerian chef Hilda Baci has set a Guinness World Record by cooking the largest pot of West Africa’s beloved tomato-based dish: jollof rice. Supported by fellow chefs and her mother, who is herself a chef, she prepared 200 bags of rice in a large pot measuring six meters in diameter at a Lagos festival. The event drew thousands and reignited the regional rivalry over jollof. Despite the pot cracking under the weight, the record was confirmed.
