A young Nigerian has developed a smart cane using locally sourced materials. The cane allows visually impaired people to move around their environment easily and travel far distances without assistance.

Seyi Ojelabi wanted to help his visually impaired cousin sister move around in her environment. So, he invented a smart cane, a handheld device with headphones that can detect and help avoid obstacles.

His invention has now helped many visually impaired people in Nigeria move around and travel far distances without assistance. His smart cane uses locally sourced materials, making his invention more sustainable.
