As of now until May 5th ski boots are to be taken off before going off partying in the Tyrolean holiday resort of Ischgl. This ban also applies to skis, skiing sticks and snowboards. Anyone caught ignoring this rule can be fined up to 2,000 euro (2,118 $).

Night revellers in ski boots put themselves at risk. Also the click-clacking of the hard cover and heels of ski boots while walking can be disturbing to holiday makers in the winter sports resort in Austria, the local council said in a statement explaining the new ban. "When guests go out in their skiing gear at night then it poses a risk to everyone," the mayor of Ischgl Werner Kurz said, adding "and it's easy to slip on tarmac with ski boots." Skis carried over shoulders have repeatedly been the cause of injuries.

But what if guests lose track of time while at a pub and don't realize they've exceeded the 8 pm ski boot ban deadline?     

In that case the tourist association recommends having the establishment call a taxi, as there are no fines for walking a maximum of ten meters (33 ft.) on ski boots to a car.
