Night Grooves with Albert Hammond and Steiner & Madlaina
On this edition of Night Grooves, British musician Albert Hammond meets the young pop duo Steiner & Madlaina. The two women from Switzerland sing "Das schöne Leben" (Beautiful Life), while Albert Hammond, one of the most famous musicians of our time, sings a couple of his greatest hits, including "It Never Rains in Southern California".
The highlight of this edition is an unplugged version of the song "One Moment in Time". Albert Hammond originally wrote it for the 1988 Summer Olympics, but pop diva Whitney Houston spun it into a smash hit. The musicians join forces to perform this song and raise any number of goose bumps at Haus Schminke in Löbau, Saxony. Our hit music series has brought a legend to its stage: Albert Hammond has been cranking out one hit after another for some fifty years now. The singer made his international breakthrough in 1973 with "It Never Rains in Southern California". Many other hits, including "The Peacemaker" and "Down By The River" came after. Albert Hammond is one of the world's most successful music producers and songwriters. Other well known hits from his pen are "Nothing's Gonna Stop Us Now", performed by Jefferson Starship, and "I Don’t Wanna Lose You" sung by Tina Turner. He was inducted into the Songwriters' Hall of Fame in 2008. This time on Night Grooves, he meets a talented musical duo from Switzerland. In 2018, Nora Steiner and Madlainer Pollina made a splash with their debut album "Cheers". The two women create evocative images of people such as we haven't heard in ages.
