Germany’s most populous state goes to the polls on Sunday. Essentially there’s one big issue at stake: down with debt!

The Social Democrats (led by Hannelore Kraft, current state premier) and Christian Democrats (led by Norbert Röttgen) are fighting over state government finances. Most voters, however, do not seem that bothered. They seem to making their choice based on the leading party figures as opposed to current issues.
