Norway: The right to asylum and the refugee dilemma

Article 14 (1) of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights says that: “Everyone has the right to seek and enjoy in other countries asylum from persecution.” According to the UN's 2009 Global Trends study, 43.3 million people in the world were fleeing war, conflict and persecution.

Global 3000 meets Khalid Dilawar, an Afghan refugee currently living in Norway. We first met him 3 years ago in a refugee camp in Patra, Greece, which the government has since closed down. Khaled went to Norway where he applied for political asylum. But his application was turned down, and his future is uncertain.
