Dijana Hrka, whose son was killed when the canopy at the entrance to Novi Sad railway station collapsed in November 2024, has gone on hunger strike in Belgrade, seeking justice for her son.

Dijana Hrka has been on hunger strike in front of the National Assembly in Belgrade for over ten days now.

She is demanding justice for her son, Stefan, who died when the concrete canopy at the entrance to Novi Sad Railway Station collapsed on November 1, 2024.

The tragedy, which killed 16 people, including children, has left Hrka devastated and sparked widespread protests across Serbia.

Despite the resignation of some ministers, including the then-Prime Minister Milos Vucevic, nobody has been prosecuted or held accountable for the disaster.

Frustrated by what she sees as a cover-up and the failures of the police and the prosecutor's office, Hrka has taken matters into her own hands.

She has issued three demands: that all those responsible for the collapse of the canopy to be questioned and prosecuted, that all arrested students be released and that early elections be called.
Hrka blames President Aleksandar Vucic for the deaths of those killed in the Novi Sad tragedy and for the government's lack of accountability.
