Researchers from Munich are trying to find out how the molecular transfer between fat cells, the pancreas and the brain works. That is important in understanding why this communication goes wrong in cases of obesity and diabetes. In addition, the scientists are interested in changes in the brain that occur in obese patients. They hope to discover which genes are responsible for obesity in mice. An important aim is to develop medications that influence metabolism.
