Because the manufacturers of older smartphones no longer supply software updates, the devices are becoming unusable more quickly. Mobile phone manufacturers are introducing new models at increasingly short intervals. Nearly all of them become outdated after a year.

It's not outdated technology that's at fault; it's outdated software. The manufacturers no longer supply all their models with the necessary updates. Some suppliers let customers wait for months or simply fail to renew their software. It's striking that the updates for expensive devices usually arrive more quickly.
