An unusual ceasefire has come into effect in the Russian-occupied city of Oleshky in the Kherson region, an area devastated by fighting and largely cut off from supplies. The White House says the truce was brokered by US First Lady Melania Trump to allow humanitarian aid deliveries and the evacuation of civilians.
While both sides say they are observing the agreement, many Ukrainians remain skeptical, citing previous ceasefires that failed to stop attacks. Even so, the temporary truce has raised hopes it could pave the way for broader peace efforts.
