In southern Oman, frankincense is still harvested by hand. The country now aims to protect the craft through sustainable production.

In southern Oman, frankincense is more than a fragrance - it is living history. Global Us looks at this valuable resin and its role from ancient Christianity to how it trades in the global economy today. Global Us follows harvesters, entrepreneurs and chefs who are embracing this iconic sunstance, once known as "white gold." From UNESCO-protected Wadi Dawkah to luxury perfumes and everyday rituals, Oman is reviving frankincense through sustainable harvesting as global demand continues to rise.
