In Internet slang, a troll is someone who posts inflammatory, extraneous, or off-topic messages in an online community and disrupts normal discussion. Politicians who have Facebook profiles, Twitter accounts or their own blogs find themselves having to deal with ongoing harassment. As a result, many give the Internet a wide berth.
