Opel: Investor Magna wants to expand into new markets

Opel's US parent company - General Motors - still has to approve the Magna deal. If it goes through - it would put the future of Opel's workers in the hands of a Canadian-Russian partnership. Magna's takeover bid is backed by Russia's biggest bank - and Russian carmaker GAZ. The deal provides Magna with a clear route into the Eastern European market.
