Our guest on 09.10.2011 Christopher von Deylen a.k.a. Schiller, Musician

Talking Germany host Peter Craven will be talking to Christopher von Deylen alias Schiller about his musical career, leaving the country for the big city and life on the road.

Christopher von Deylen is the brains behind "Schiller", whose melodic synth-based pop has sold over 7 million copies in the past 12 years.

He was born in rural Lower Saxony and grew up with pioneering electronic music like Tangerine Dream amd Kraftwerk.

Christopher von Deylen first studied cultural sciences but since 1994 music has played a key role in his life. His instrumental debut single "Das Glockenspiel" saw the start of his success story and the album Zeitgeist established the typical Schiller sound.

His major breakthrough came in 2001 with guest vocalist Peter Heppner. The seond Schiller album "Weltreise" topped the German charts for several weeks. "Dream of You", the single from the album, received a prestigious Echo award.

Christopher von Deylen works with a number of guest artists. Time and time again he has managed to enlist international stars, for example Chinese pianist Lang Lang.

Christopher von Deylen now lives and works in Berlin.
