Pádhraic Ó Dochartaigh

Pádhraic Ó Dochartaigh worked as a TV producer in Munich and Paris before becoming a television trainer in 1980. His key areas are television drama production and festival organisation.

After studying German Language and Literature and Roman Language and Literature in Galway and Munich, this Irishman stayed in Germany and worked as a dramatist, author and producer of European television series for the Kirch Group, Tele-Munich GmbH and Technisonor in Paris. His productions include ZDF / TF1 series such as "Kim & Co.", "The Adventure of David Balfour" and "Mathias Sandorf".

In 1980 his interest in further education attracted him to the Television Training Centres at Sender Freies Berlin, where he was able to apply his vision of worthwhile development aid. In 1984 he took a year out and produced the feature film "Marie Ward" for Hermes Film GmbH in Munich. The film was distributed by Warner-Columbia and Sacis.

At the DW-AKADEMIE he now directs courses on topics including Production Management for Television Plays and Series, Organisation and Management for Film and TV Markets and Festivals, as well as providing advanced training for trainers of television programme staff.
