Pacemaker for heart failure

Heart failure, or heart insufficiency, is usually treated with pharmaceuticals. But a new kind of pacemaker is being put through its paces that should help in the treatment of the condition. It stimulates receptors on the carotid artery that are involved in regulating blood pressure and stress hormones. Reducing the level of those hormones takes the pressure off the heart and the vascular system.
