Police estimated that at least 250,000 people packed Munich for a massive rally against Iran's clerical rule. The demonstration follows Tehran's crackdown on anti-government protests at home, which left thousands dead.

The rally was timed to coincide with the Munich Security Conference, which draws global political and military leaders.

Addressing demonstrators in Munich, Reza Pahlavi, the exiled son of Iran's deposed shah, said he is ready to lead the country toward a democratic future. He also renewed calls for US intervention in Iran.
