Monsoon rains have wreaked havoc across Pakistan in recent days. Parts of Karachi have been left submerged, and entire villages have been swept away, leaving hundreds of people dead in the mountainous northwest province of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

Flash floods devastated Buner and Swabi districts in northern Pakistan, destroying homes, farmland, and infrastructure within seconds. Survivors describe terrifying scenes as rising floodwaters swept away entire villages. Experts link these extreme weather events to climate change, citing increased rainfall and cloudbursts in non-monsoon regions. With Karachi also paralyzed, Pakistan faces mounting climate risks despite contributing less than 1% of global emissions. Calls grow for improved disaster preparedness and international climate funding.
