After mudslides caused by torrential rains buried entire villages in northern Pakistan, rescue efforts are hampered by the destruction. Many of the missing are still unaccounted for.

Flash floods triggered by a sudden cloudburst have devastated Buner district in northwest Pakistan, burying entire villages and leaving dozens dead or missing. Survivors search for loved ones amid mud and rubble, with little government machinery on site. Rescue efforts are slow, and more rain threatens further landslides.
