Pakistan Troubled by Increasing Violence

February 25, 2008

A week after Pakistan’s crucial parliamentary elections, another suicide bomber has struck. At least eight people died when a teenager blew himself up near the vehicle of the head of the army medical corps, Lieutenant-General Mushtaq Ahmed Baig, killing the officer instantly. As violence threatens to escalate, President Musharraf is facing increasing pressure to step down in the wake of the opposition’s electoral victory.
