Palatinate Forest - Nature without borders

September 7, 2015

Forest as far as the eye can see and red sandstone rock formations: that's what the northern Vosges and Palatinate Forest are known for. Together they form one of Europe's largest woodland regions.

Savor the silence, breathe in the scent of the forest, discover imposing rock formations: you can do all that in the Palatinate Forest and northern Vosges. Both regions have been a UNESCO biosphere reserve since 1998, Europe's first cross-border nature park. You can explore it along many walking trails, where you'll come upon such sights as Trifels Castle, the Emperor Frederick Barbarossa's favorite. And the restaurants and inns offer delicious food from the Palatinate and Alsace regions.
