Palestinians squeezed as Israel's West Bank settlements grow

Israel has seized some of the West Bank's most fertile agricultural land to expand Israeli settlements. The encroachment has made conditions dire for Palestinian farmers and produce sellers.

Palestinian farmers in Beit Dajan, a village in the Jordan Valley of the Israeli-occupied West Bank, are facing increasing threats to their livelihoods.

Although tomato cultivation is surging, land seizures, settler harassment and water sabotage now endanger agriculture in this fertile region. Movement restrictions delay market access and reduce income.

Since Israel undertook its largest land confiscation in decades in 2024, fears of de facto annexation have risen.
