Parliamentary elections: Chancellor Angela Merkel has won a second term in office with a new coalition partner

Angela Merkel says she will push ahead quickly in forming a coalition government with the Free Democrats after winning a second term as German chancellor. Speaking to reporters on Monday, Merkel said she would pay attention to the balance between social aspects and market liberalisation in the coming four years. Although her party suffered some losses in this election, she has been savouring her victory with her preferred coalition partners.
