Peace talks between the US and Iran collapse

The Pakistan-brokered peace talks between the US and Iran ended without a deal. US Vice President JD Vance said he made a "final and best offer," while Iranian state media accused Washington of excessive demands.

US vice president JD Vance left Islamabad without a deal to halt the war in Iran. Washington demanded a clear pledge that Tehran will not pursue nuclear weapons. Iran remained hopeful for future talks, while Pakistan urged both sides to honor the fragile ceasefire. With the April 22 truce expiring soon, the choice is now between escalation and renewed diplomacy. After the talks had failed, US President Donald Trump announced on social media the US Navy is going to blockade 'any and all ships trying to enter, or leave, the Strait of Hormuz'.
