No other Chancellor was as long at the helm of the country. CDU politician Helmut Kohl, who spent 16 years in office, turns 80 years old on the 3rd of April. On his birthday, we honor the former Chancellor for his achievements in laying the groundwork for German reunification, and his key role in the process of European unification.
