On June 5, President Obama is set to make a private visit to Dresden and the Buchenwald concentration camp near Weimar. His great-uncle was involved in the liberation of the camp in 1945. Also on the agenda is a short visit to the city of German literary classics, Weimar. Along the way, Obama will be confronted with the region's two images: on one hand, a place documenting the pinnacle of German intellectual history, on the other, a place of total terror - with the camp just a few kilometers from the center of town. How are Weimar and Buchenwald preparing for a visit from the most powerful man in the world?
