The German labor market is currently in fine fettle, but people with disabilities are not benefiting from the upswing. In general, the unemployment rate has fallen - but joblessness among people with disabilities is on the rise.

The politicians appear to be powerless: in Germany, companies are legally obliged to employ people with disabilities but many opt to pay a fine rather than shell out for the extra costs involved in making the workplace barrier-free.
