In France, and especially in Marseille, petanque or boules is played on every corner. How does it work?

Petanque is a beloved French ball game, deeply rooted in Marseille's culture. Played by all ages, it dates back to ancient times and was once banned in the 17th century. A historic factory in Marseille still produces 1,200 custom balls weekly. In the city's clubs, locals gather during aperitif time to play, socialize and enjoy the southern heat — embodying the spirit of petanque.
