After the Tisza party's sweeping victory, lawmaker Vilmos Katai-Nemeth is set to become Hungary's next social and family affairs minister. His priorities include accessibility, health care and education.

Peter Magyar's opposition Tisza party won a landslide victory in Hungary's parliamentary election on April 12, ending Prime Minister Viktor Orban's 16-year rule.

The party won 53% of the vote, securing a two‑thirds majority and 141 of the 199 seats in parliament.

In a recent Facebook post, prime minister-designate Peter Magyar announced that political newcomer Vilmos Katai-Nemeth will head Hungary's Ministry of Social and Family Affairs in the next cabinet.

Blind since the age of 16, Katai-Nemeth is a lawyer and black-belt aikido master. He says that his blindness has made him a fighter and Magyar says that his life experience makes him a strong advocate for equal opportunities and social reform.
