Philippines: China's brazen land grab

It's not just the Philippines and China that want more from the South China Sea. Other nearby nations like Vietnam and Thailand have expressed their interests. But China is not losing any time.

The idyllic Spratly Islands in the South China Sea look like sprinkles from the air. They might be the perfect spot for a holiday. Or the site of valuable natural resources. While the Filipino island residents have just four hours of electricity a day, the lights at Chinese construction sites burn day and night. Whether the Philippines will be able to resolve this growing dispute remains to be seen.
