Philippines Declares Emergency After Political Violence

The Philippine president has put two southern provinces under emergency rule as the body count from one of the worst incidences of election violence rises to nearly 50.

A media rights watchdog says this could be the world's worst mass killing of journalists.

The victims were killed as they were accompanying the wife of a local leader, Esmael Mangudadato, to file the nomination of the leader for the governorship of the province in next year's polls
