In the Philippines, recovery from Typhoon Kalmaegi has been suspended, as a new, even stronger storm bears down on the archipelago. Super Typhoon Fung-wong is expected to make landfall on Sunday evening.

Typhoon Fung-wong is gaining strength over the Philippine Sea, threatening a country still reeling from Typhoon Kalmaegi.

With wind gusts nearing 200 km/h and torrential rain expected, widespread flooding is likely.

A state of emergency remains in effect as evacuations begin.

Survivors mourn loved ones lost in last week's storm, while authorities brace for Fung-wong's impact.
