Project goal: Avoiding waste, replacing plastics made from oil
Investment: 400,000 euros
Carbon reduction: Cutting emissions by one third in the sugar cane industry

The Brazilian sugar cane industry is booming. This is mostly due to the demand for ethanol which is used as biofuel. But a large part of the sugar cane waste is simply burned, resulting in increased carbon emissions and air pollution. Now a new project using German-Brazilian technology, will in future turn the waste into plastic.
