German police raided homes, businesses and mosques across the country on Thursday in a Europe-wide operation targeting suspected Islamic extremists, the police announced. Searches were carried out in 28 properties while raids were also made in other European countries in connection with the same investigation, said the Munich police which coordinated the operation in Germany. The raids were ordered as part of an investigation into two men suspected of money laundering and tax fraud who have links to extremists, the police said.
