Pool testing – a new strategy

COVID-19 tests can be expensive and time-consuming. To get an up-to-date picture of how the coronavirus has spread throughout the population, Rwanda regularly tests a cross-section of the population using a strategy called pool testing.

Forensic science: Following invisible clues

Criminals leave visible clues such as fingerprints and fibers, which can be used to get genetic information. They also leave invisible ones, such as traces of their breathing. Forensic scientists are using new technology to track down perpetrators.

How long can data be stored?

To keep the ever-increasing amounts of data under control, researchers are developing smaller and smaller storage devices. In the future, synthetic DNA could replace conventional data carriers.
