Pope Benedict's visit to his homeland Germany comes at a time of crisis for the Roman Catholic church here. It's image suffered major damage after last year's revelations of sex abuse by priests. Catholics have traditionally been a minority in Germany's former communist East. But even in the west, the number of people turning their back on the church is on the rise.
