Portugal's oldest university

Coimbra is a city around 200 kilometers north of Lissabon and the home to Portugal's first university, which was founded in 1290. Of particular interest are the 18th century golden library 'Biblioteca Joanina' with an estimated 300,000 books and the Baroque bell tower 'Capela de São Miguel'.
