· Since 2002, DW-TV has been broadcasting a programme window in Arabic for several hours per day; since February 2005, the Journal is presented live.

· The Arabic Service of DW-RADIO has been present in the entire Arabic-speaking world for decades and has repeatedly expanded its broadcasting times since 2001. Similarly, the programming of DW-RADIO/Farsi (main target region: Iran) and Urdu (Pakistan) have been intensified. The focus is on programmes for young listeners and co-productions with partner stations in the broadcasting region. The same applies to services in Kiswahili (eastern Africa) and Hausa (western Africa) as well as Indonesian.

· DW-WORLD.DE offers extensive webpages in the Arabic language, which are managed by a separate editorial office. It also contains information about the programmes in all other relevant DW-RADIO languages. DW additionally operates the trilingual dialogue portal qantara.de in cooperation with partners.

· DW-AKADEMIE holds further training measures for radio professionals, for editorial staff and for radio and television technicians and managers. Recently, DW-AKADEMIE instructors were on duty in Afghanistan, Iran, Yemen, Nigeria, Palestine, Pakistan, Sudan, Syria and Chad. For example, a course in Iran was on “Reporting for Radio,” and in Sanaa (Yemen) on “Radio Management.”

· DW’s marketing measures utilize and promote the network of German interest representatives in the region, for instance by setting up “DW-Punkte” in Goethe-Institutes (such as in Cairo and most recently in Beirut, followed in May by Ramallah and Tel Aviv) and joint appearances at important events such as the Cairo Book Fair. DW also appears at universities and public events in the media and business fields.
