BMW's subsidiary, BMW M GmbH, has been customizing and fine-tuning the company's models since 1972.

Now the engineers have started a new chapter, trying their hands at the diesel motors for the first time. Under the title "BMW M Performance Automobile", the subsidiary is presenting four new models with one thing in common: a newly developed six-cylinder in-line diesel engine with triple turbocharging. It turns out 280 kilowatts and achieves a maximum torque of 740 Newton-meters. The new motor is in the X5 and X6 models, the 5-series station wagon, and the sedan. Drive it! tests the M550d xDrive sedan.
