Three NGOs in Greece, Albania and North Macedonia are working together to protect a lake that has shores in all three countries.

Great Prespa Lake and Small Prespa Lake are two stunningly picturesque and largely unspoiled bodies of water in the Balkans. While Small Prespa Lake lies in Albania and Greece, Great Prespa Lake straddles Greece, Albania and North Macedonia.

Great Prespa Lake is threatened by receding shorelines. The challenge of protecting more than 2,000 species of fish, birds, mammals and plants means that there is no alternative to crossborder cooperation.

This is why three NGOs have joined forces and are working together for the good of the lakes and their countries.
