In parliamentary elections, the centrist, pro-EU D66 party secured a narrow win over the far-right Freedom Party. D66 leader Rob Jetten targeted younger voters in his campaign. He's now likely to become prime minister.

Rob Jetten is set to become the Netherlands' youngest and first openly gay prime minister after his pro-European D66 party narrowly won the October election. Known for his upbeat slogan "Het kan wel" ("It is possible"), Jetten campaigned on positivity and unity, contrasting years of far-right dominance. He now has to form a coalition in a deeply divided political landscape — a process that could take months.
