ProSieben Signs Exclusive Deal with Paramount

August 20, 2003

ProSiebenSat.1, recently acquired by U.S. media billionaire Haim Saban, has signed an exclusive deal with Viacom's Paramount Pictures giving it free-to-air television rights for the U.S. group's films from 2002 to 2005 for a price in the low hundreds of millions in Euro. "The Paramount package completes our provision of high-quality Hollywood productions in the coming years," ProSieben Chief Executive Urs Rohner said in a statement on Tuesday. "The contract extends our position as the leading provider of Hollywood films and series in the German television market." The news follows an exclusive movie output deal with Sony Pictures Television International which ProSieben sealed in July. ProSieben says it has now signed long-term contracts with almost all Hollywood studios.
