Protect or cull? - Germany's beaver population.

Beavers are a protected species and therefore cannot be hunted. The situation has led to beavers becoming a plague in the Oderbruch region of eastern Germany; they destroy dikes, and undermine roads. Villagers and farmers fear that the swamp area drained centuries ago could be flooded once more.
