Thousands rallied in Delhi, demanding India's election chief resign over disputed voter roll cuts. Critics say minorities have been disproportionately affected, while the government says it's removing ineligible voters.

India's opposition has turned a dispute over voter lists into a nationwide political battle.

Protesters accuse authorities of unfairly removing more than 130 million names during a voter-roll revision, an allegation denied by the Election Commission and Prime Minister Modi's BJP.

With demonstrations growing and opposition leaders rallying behind Rahul Gandhi, the controversy is becoming a major test of public trust in India's electoral system.

DW's Adil Bhat explains what's driving the movement.
