Swiss authorities deployed thousands of security forces as protesters gathered in Geneva to demonstrate against the G7 summit in France. Some violence and property damage were reported amid the clampdown.

The G7 summit is set to begin on Monday in the French city of Evian, on Lake Geneva.

The US president is expected to attend the summit, which lasts until Wednesday.
