Public sector workers in Greece strike in protest at a government austerity measures

A strike by public sector workers in Greece has brought the country to a standstill. Government offices, schools and many hospitals are closed. Flights across Greece have been suspended. Rail services are also disrupted. The workers are protesting against government cuts aimed at reducing the country's enormous budget deficit. Prime minister George Papandreou is under pressure to resolve the country's financial problems because of fears they could spill over into other Eurozone countries.
