Russia's President Putin has rejected an offer to sit down face-to-face on neutral ground by Ukrainian President Zelenskyy. Zelenskyy had told DW that he was willing to meet his Russian counterpart at the G20 summit.

Russia's leader ruled out meeting Zelenskyy on the sidelines of the upcoming G20 summit in the United States.

Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov called talks in Miami "impossible," saying that peace talks could only take place in Moscow

"Putin does not want to meet Zelenskyy as an equal," says DW's Russia analyst Konstantin Eggert. "So essentially that means that Putin wants to continue the war."
