Shocking images of West African migrants being sold as slaves have gone around the world. How should Europe respond? Guests: Thorsten Benner (Political Analyst), Christine Mhundwa (DW), Kiflemariam Gebrewold (Development Worker).

Christine Mhundwa, a business journalist whose reporting is specialised in Southern Africa. She says: "Africa is changing rapidly, but much of the way the West approaches the continent is caught up in old ways".

Thorsten Benner is co-founder and director of the Global Public Policy Institute (GPPi) in Berlin. He says: “More development in African states will in the short and medium term likely increase migration flows to Europe.”

Kiflemariam Gebrewold works as a journalist for security-development policy and has worked 20 years as a developpement worker. He says: "African presidents are being (mis)used as bouncers for the EU. For the sake of keeping migrants out of Europe-a paramount goal of The EU, they are ready to sell their heart and soul. Partnership becomes a permanent pain for Africa."
