Relief, joy, and anger over the ouster of Nicolas Maduro

At home and abroad, many regular Venezuelans are celebrating the ouster of President Nicolas Maduro by US military force. But not everybody is happy. Protesters gathered in several cities around the world.

After US airstrikes on Caracas and the arrest of Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro, Colombia has reinforced its border security with Venezuela.

Despite tensions, Venezuelans crossing into Colombia express hope for freedom. Celebrations erupted across Latin America and Europe, from Lima and Santiago to Madrid, as expatriates voiced cautious optimism.

Meanwhile, protests against U.S. intervention spread in Rome, Mexico City, and London, condemning what demonstrators call Western warmongering.
